If you’ve struggled with weight gain, and diet and exercise just haven’t given you the dramatic transformation you’d like, then Liposculpture may be for you. The procedure is geared toward gently harvesting fat stores from undesirable areas and transferring it to areas where increased fullness and projection may be desired, examples being the breast, face or buttocks.
With the assistance of mild sedation, a technique known as tumescent anesthesia, where numbing solution is injected into an area of fat store, then through a suction cannula fat stores are removed, harvested, mixed with your own body’s serum, known as platelet rich plasma. Platelet Rich plasma is created from your own bloodstream. It increases the viability of the amount of fat cells that can be transferred to another area and survive. This harvesting process is the key to a successful fat transfer that has the potential to survive indefinitely.
The duration of the operation depends on the amount of fat needed to be harvested from various body sites, the donor sites and then successfully transferred to the target areas, or recipient sites. On average, the operation takes two hours. After the operation, you will be given a special garment to support the skin and to restrict possible swelling and migration of the transferred fat from the targeted area. After some rest, you can go home the same day.
During the first week after the operation, you will experience some stiffness and a mushy feeling in the treated areas. In the first two days, these symptoms might be intense. It’s, therefore, advisable to take it easy so that your body gets a chance to recover. Scars from the cannula injection sites will be very small and become almost inconspicuous. The new contours of your figure will be visible after 2 to 3 weeks. Shortly thereafter you may experience a decrease in the fat transferred area’s fullness, yet once the regenerative features of platelet rich plasma take effect, the area will again flourish with viable, living fat cells. The final result can be appreciated 3 to 4 months after the procedure. In general, the results are permanent, yet if weight is gained after the procedure, the areas of fat transferred may alter their dimensions based on the amount of weight gained.
